DALLAS DOES INDIE'S 3RD ANNUAL SXSW SHOWCASE

DDI SXSW '08

For the last two years, Dallas Does Indie has labored to bring you the best music the South By Southwest Festival has to offer. This year, we decided to do something a little different. If there is one thing that we have learned in two SXSW Festivals, it's that the Record Label is just as important as the artist. After all, without the label taking the risk how would we, the entertained, reap the reward?

Indie Labels are a dime a dozen. Seriously, we did a lot of research and there are millions. The ten we chose to highlight are not the only great ones out there, but they are certainly changing our musical palate. Thank goodness no one told these upstart labels that there was no glory in owning your own recording company - without them most of our favorite artists would be looking for a new home.

So in light of all this, DDI has changed the format for the 2008 Showcase. On Episode #99, to be released Monday, February 18th, we will be playing ten artists who will be in Austin next month. More importantly we will pay homage to the labels who heard them, signed them, and supported them. By the way, we are hooking you up with some MP3's. Check it below.

Below, our pick of TEN Indie Labels who are doing their part to change the industry (in no particular order):

1. Baria Records Noteworthy Artists - Bedroom Walls, Heavenly States, Cloud Cult

2. Rough Trade Records Noteworthy Artists - British Sea Power, Basia Bulat, The Libertines, The Moldy Peaches
