SPAM:: Someone Please Assist Music



I do not have time to go through my inbox. I just don't. I sit down, and I try, then I get distracted or something more appealing (like being hit by a bus) comes up and I just walk away. I've decided after much deliberation, that I need some assistance with my inbox and rather than give everyone my email address and login info, I think I'll just post several of the music submissions I get on a weekly basis and let you decided what you like. I call this kind of music "Someone Please Assist Music" or "S.P.A.M."

YACHT coming to Club Dada on 11/6


A long time ago I played a YACHT song on Dallas Does Indie. Almost two years later, I still get comments on it and I even go back to it from to time when I need a little pick me up. YACHT now comes to Dallas on November 6th to Club Dada and anyone who likes his music as much as I do has the opportunity to see this innovator live-and-in-the-flesh.

I recently discovered that DDI received some nice praise from USA TODAY Blogger Whitney Matheson. She pens the popular blog POP CANDY, and produces a podcast of the same name.

Dallas Does Indie Does Year End Album List



The interesting thing about year end album lists is that everyone's, and I mean everyone's looks different. I have looked over so many year end lists my eyes feel like they are going to fall out, and yet here I am creating my own. The fascination with "the list" for me is that it sparks conversation and inspires thought. I didn't publicly do one last year, but I had one in my head. I hope as you look over the list you find yourself with an opinion - not so much on whether my list is right or wrong, because without a doubt it will look wrong - but your opinion on what albums you loved this year. There were a lot of good ones. I didn't spend a whole lot of time on mine. I just typed out the albums I can remember listening to a lot and not growing tired of. I guess that's what I really like about a good album - it lasts.

Black Before Red is an indie-rock quartet based out of Austin, TX. They have a sound reminiscent of The Beatles, or Pinback, or Violent Femmes, with a little Shins, but whatever you think they sound like this band offers unique compositions that make them worth listening to repeatedly.
